Tenenbaums has such a dry humor and extremely original editing. Gwyneth Paltrow's character, Margot, is my favorite. Maybe it is because of how she was filmed. When she is shown in a group scene, she is always lurking in the background, just leaning against a wall. It is as though Wes Anderson is trying to emphasize her upbringing; how she was brought up as not part of the family and constantly reminded of her adoption. It is probably better that he did show her detatched from the family...
Babysitting is classic. There are a few current movies that kind of copied scenes. One example is when Elisabeth Shue's character, Chris Parker, lip synching and dancing around the room brought an image of The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Dawson's Creek borrowed from the blues scene, including some of the lyrics. JaydeKitten is right, though, most problems in 80's movies could have been solved with a telefonino or cell phone.
